Stuff & Th(anksgiv)ings

Grad school applications are almost finished… I just need to find two more recommend-ers and to re-take the GRE. Next month I’m on call for jury duty, so whatever week I’m free from that I will right quick re-take that infernal standardized test. December 3rd is the actual date my parents move to Arizona. I would say that things are shaping up to… something. We’ll figure out what in April.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade really isn’t as cool this year, you know, without Rick Astley. Watching this kind of makes me nostalgic, though it was six years ago I marched in the parade with the USSBA All-Star Colorguard.

Currently baking Mama Jew’s sweet potato-cashew bake, and hoping I can improve it some with marshmallows. We’ll see how the Wal-Mart brand of everything compares to the real stuff I grew up on.

As is tradition, I give you:

I am thankful for the roof over my head, and the landlord who understands rent can’t always come on time.

I am thankful for health care, after being uninsured for six months.

I am thankful for the opportunity and wealth to go to graduate school, whether or not I am accepted.

I am thankful for ever-changing technology, to keep the world on it’s toes.

I am thankful for automatic spell check, as I would seem much more buffoon-ish without it.

I am thankful to be employed, be that gainful or not.

I am thankful for a marginally useful set of eyes, and the DSLR that enhances them.

I am thankful for my hands, dainty and feminine as they may be.

I am thankful that Ramen costs only $0.17/pack and has enough nutritional value to sustain me.

I am somewhat thankful for boys, who manage to build me up and tear me down regardless of what I need.

I am thankful for friends who constantly and gently remind me of who I am, and what I could be.

I am thankful for my creative mind, which somehow still works after years of mis/disuse.

I am thankful for creative minds of times past, who give me inspiration and drive.

I am thankful for passion, in every single way.

I am thankful for a sense of humor that allows me to enjoy the little things in life.

I am thankful for wireless internet.

I am thankful for Fixer; without it our images would disappear.

Lastly I am thankful, immeasurably, for the many homes and arms I have been welcomed into throughout my life.

Also, have this thing. Its a 35mm negative, scanned & manhandled in Photoshop to a digital negative, printed with a Van Dyke process, bastardized with paint, glitter, ribbon & junk mail, scanned, and overlayed with the original in Photoshop. All I ever wanted to be was Dave McKean.
