Hi, I’m Heather Alison Haynsen (maiden name: Haynes)! I began sharing ideas and media with my first website in 8th grade, and have never looked back.
Armed with a dual B.A. in English and Music (Susquehanna University, 2007), an M.A. in Photojournalism & Multimedia (Ohio University School of Visual Communication, 2012), and an M.A. in Strategic Communication (Washington State University Murrow College of Communication, 2019). I try to understand the world in as many ways as possible. This endless curiosity led me to time working at a portrait factory, a medieval-themed dinner establishment, and a large manufacturing company, as well as teaching violin lessons and photographing weddings.
I believe that the best stories are found through great characters and best told with stunning visuals. No matter what content comes my way, I enjoy creating succinct scenes and engaging stories.

The domain name Hydrogen-Jukebox.org comes from Alan Ginsberg’s Howl: “…who sank all night in submarine light of Bickford’s floated out and sat through the stale beer afternoon in desolate Fugazzi’s, listening to the crack of doom on the hydrogen jukebox”
Ginsberg often put together words with no apparent association to evoke unique visions/emotions. For me, this serves as a reminder to move forward with anything possible when there is seemingly no path forward in an edit.
The randomized image headers on this site are a collection of photographs I made on our honeymoon to Iceland in 2017.
