Welcome!
Old-Time music is a type of pre-radio folk music that grew out of Southern Appalachia, and characteristically uses fiddle and banjo as main instruments.
The term fiddle can actually refer to any bowed stringed instrument, though here it is the modern violin played in folk style. One may argue that the instrument in the logo picture is a violin due to the lack of fine tuners, but in reality, I use it for both classical orchestral music as well as old-time and Celtic fiddling.
This website was created in response to a lack of decent web resources about the musical style, as a final project for VICO561: Web and as a companion to my master's project documentary on old-time fiddling in the Upper South.
Herein you will find some results of my research and travels.
