Year-in-review (stolen from last year’s post; many answers remain the same).
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? — took a spontaneous vacation, drank beyond drunk, met a boy from the internet, packed up my parents’ house, spontaneous glorious BBQs, stood in a friend’s wedding, met a midget from the circus, got a manicure, played beer pong, sang karaoke, took the GRE, snuck around a college campus other than my own, FINALLY dyed my hair purple
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? — No, but I have added: NO NEW MATTS.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? — No.
4. Did anyone close to you die? — No.
5. What countries did you visit? — I got a passport in order to fulfill this requirement in 2010.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? — Enrollment in a graduate program
7. What date(s) from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? — Yeah, sorry, nothing that exciting happened.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? — I accomplished nothing. Health insurance?
9. What was your biggest failure? — Accomplishing nothing.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? — Only the usual; I did get new glasses though.
11. What was the best thing you bought? — Passport, boots… I don’t have money to buy things.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? — Everyone who’s driven me home.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? — All unnecessarily angry customers. And all Matts.
14. Where did most of your money go? — AACC, landlord, BGE.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? — Sombrero Party, South of the Border, Brian-from-Michigan and Boston/Salem
16. What songs will always remind you of 2009? — Poker Face, Right Round, and anything from the Mad Caddies, Belle & Sebastian or Jukebox the Ghost
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder? — Happier but more cynical. ii. thinner or fatter? — Fatter. iii. richer or poorer? — I earn more income, but pay more bills.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? — Accomplishing something, anything.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? — Thinking about work.
20. How did spend you Christmas? — Sarah’s dad’s for breakfast, Sarah’s mom’s for lunch, Sherlock Holmes later.
22. Did you fall in love in 2009? — Not with people, though perhaps with life and/or idea(l)s.
24. What were your favourite TV programmes? — Project Runway, BBC World News.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? — No more hate, only disappointment.
26. What was the best book you read? — Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett and Fool by Christopher Moore, simultaneously.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? — Mad Caddies or Jukebox the Ghost
28. What did you want and get? — Passport, boots, a new phone… I don’t really want things anymore.
29. What did you want and not get? —  A full-time job and/or consistent freelancing opportunities.
30. What was your favourite film of this year? — Watchmen, Up, The Hangover, Sherlock Holmes
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? — SOMBRERO PARTY, year 23.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? — More road trips.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? — Dress pants, tank top, contrasting color dress shirt, sassy shoes, matching glasses.
34. What kept you sane? — Never coming home.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? — I’m not really into famous people.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? — I try to remain detached.
37. Who did you miss? — Family, 100%.
38. Who was the best new person you met? — I don’t know, but it was probably a Matt.
